Workers Compensation Agent Guide Basic eligibility requirements

  • Prior experience - BIIA Inc. requires 3 years trade and management experience
  • Three-year loss ratio (incurred claims cost over annual written premium) less than 60 percent
  • Loss ratio > 60% or experience modification > 1.25 (requires reinsurer approval)
  • Risks with lapse in coverage (requires reinsurer approval)
  • Must comply with BIIA Inc. loss control standards
  • Must maintain a safe working environment and demonstrate an aggressive attitude toward safety
  • Minimum premium - $990.00
  • Territory - Virginia domiciled companies – (No West Virginia exposure)

What we need to bind coverage

  • Completed and signed Workers Compensation Application, Acord 130 (NCCI Class Codes apply)
  • Completed and signed Commercial Application, Acord 125
  • Rejection of coverage cards for any corporate officers and LLC Members desiring to be excluded from coverage
  • Loss runs for prior three years - valued within 60 days
  • Copy of Experience Mod worksheet or snapshot
  • Premium deposit checks made payable to BIIA Inc.
  • Downpayment must be received by BIIA within 10 days of binding request to preserve the requested effective date.

Monthly Commission Checks are distributed by BIIA Inc. based on collected premium Note: No agent has binding authority. BIIA Inc. must approve all submissions prior to binding coverage. Payment Plans

  • Annual - 100% at inception
  • Semi-Annual - 50% down and one installment
  • Quarterly - 25% down with three installments
  • Monthly - 25% down and eight monthly installments
  • Self Reporting - 10% deposit
  • Minimum premium policies - 100% premium required

No installment fees or interest charges. Other Fees:
Reinstatement Fee - $50.00 (will be charged if any policy is reinstated after the cancellation date.)
Late Fee - $15.00
Waiver of Subrogation - $100.00
Audit Non-Compliance - $500.00
Audit Re-Visit - $100.00

All policies will be physically audited at the expiration of each policy term.

Loss Control Requirements
It is a mandatory requirement that all members are subject to a Loss Control visit by our Loss Control Consultant Jackie Adkins
